Welcome to the world of SILK PAINTING where you will share the joy of an 
incredible ARTventure as you watch the paint dance across the silk like northern 
lights!  Regardless of whether you are an artist or have never picked up a brush before
you will greatly benefit from our workshops.  Leave your cares at the door, bring 
a friend, and step into a creative atmosphere! 
This is your opportunity to unwind and express yourself as 
we guide you through this amazing art form. 

Below you will find a description of 5 different 
workshops that we would gladly guide people through. 
Contact us for details if you are interested in individual 
instruction at our studio location, or if you want to get a group 
together to explore this fascinating art form in your own community.  
We will provide all materials and are willing to travel to your 
location if you provide us with a workable place to set up.
We will also design workshops to suit your needs if the 
ones listed below are not quite what you are looking for. 


 








1. Exploratory Workshop: 
Limit: 16 Participants Ages 13 - 100+
Time: 13 hours Instructional and Hands-On Exploratory Time 

During this workshop we will explore many exquisite 
silk painting techniques and create a journal of our work 
to keep for future reference.  Some techniques that will be 
taught include - Resisting - Salting - Rubbing Alcohol Patterning
- Wet On Wet - Wet On Dry - Sun Printing or Leaf Imprinting Without Sun 
- Rust Dying - Burnt Edge Applique` - Color Pleating 
- Bubble Wrap patterning - Splash and Scrunching - Misting 
- Color Discharge - String Tied Patterning - Rubber Banding.
Along with an exploration of techniques you will 
learn product knowledge, vocabulary, fabric setting, and have 
an opportunity for in-depth discussion with
many visual samples of hand-painted fabrics. 







2. Banner Making Workshop:
Limit 16 Participants Ages 10 - 100+ 
Time: 13 hours Instructional and Hands-On Exploratory Time

 During this workshop you will explore basic silk painting 
techniques, and design and create a banner. Product knowledge, 
vocabulary, fabric setting, and having an opportunity for in-depth discussion 
with many visual samples of hand-painted fabrics will also be part of 
this workshop. Participants may work individualy or together in 
groups of 3 or 4 if they wish to create 
a community banner as a team.  









3. Sun Catcher Workshop:
Limit 24 Participants Ages 10 - 100+ 
Time: 6 hours 

During this workshop you will explore basic 
silk painting techniques, wet-on-wet, resist, and imprinting) and create 
three sun catchers to take home.  









4. Silk Painting and Free Motion Quilting Workshop:
Limit  10 Adult Participants
Time: 13 hours Instructional and Hands-On Exploratory Time

 During this workshop you will learn the process of silk painting and
 enhancing your silk painted fabric with shimmering threads and Free Motion 
Quilting Techniques.  You will learn basic silk painting techniques, silk paint 
a landscape, layer it to a background cloth and bat, quilt it using the free 
motion technique, square it, and frame it with a silk border.  Along with this you will 
also learn product knowledge, vocabulary, fabric setting, and have an opportunity for
in-depth discussion with many visual samples of hand-painted fabrics. 
(Participants will need to bring a sewing machine with a
 darning foot attachment or capabilities 
to do free motion sewing)

  











5. Silk Painting Workshop Just for Kids:
 
Limit 32 Ages 6+
Time: 2 hours, Participants will explore the basic 
silk painting techniques: wet-on-wet and/or
resist, and create a sun catcher to take home. 

These quilted paintings are the work of a local youth group.
